Eligibility:



10+2 passed with English as one of the subject is the minimum educational qualification required to become a Air hostess. Some Airlines usually prefer Graduates or Diploma holders.

 

Along with the educational qualifications mentioned above, candidates must also fulfill the below mentioned physical and medical standards too-

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED-

Minimum height requirement is 157 cm (for females) and 170 cm (for males). This requirement may vary from airline to airline.

Weight of the candidate should be in proportion to his/her weight.

Spotless skin appearance will give applicants an edge.

Candidate has to be physically fit.

 

MEDICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED-

Eyesight requirements- minimum eyesight requirement is 6/9. Many airlines allow candidates to correct eyesight and make it 20/20!

Candidate shouldn’t have any history of mental illness in the past.

Candidate should not be suffering from serious cardiovascular disease.

 

Age Limit: Candidate must be between 17-25 years of age. Note: Age relaxation may exist in some training institutes.

Duties of an Air Hostess/Flight steward include-

The cabin crew has to greet the passengers while they boarding the aircraft, assist them to find their respective seats and ensure that their luggage is safely stored in the overhead cabins. Once all the passengers are on board then the cabin crew start to demonstrate the mandatory emergency procedures while the airplane is preparing for take off.

During a flight the crew members needs to assist passengers, make necessary calls on behalf of the captain of aircraft and serve food, drinks and sell duty free goods.

The crew may have to deal with several emergencies such as cabin fires or first aid situations. In case of any such emergencies, cabin crews need to reassure the passengers so that they follow the correct emergency guidelines.

At the end of a flight, cabin crew make sure that passengers disembark the aircraft comfortably and safely. Then crew members are asked to complete a written report which needs to records all details of the flight. For example; Any duty free sales, food and beverages sales, any unusual incidents and customs and immigration documentation.
